AFSCME Florida Statement on Three Recertification Wins in South Florida

Three different AFSCME locals in South Florida voted overwhelming to retain their union contract. Yesterday the votes were counted and Local 929 Town of Surfside voted 100% in favor; Local 966 Town of Bay Harbor Islands voted 100% in favor and Local 2200 Port Everglades voted 89% in favor.

AFSCME Florida Administrator James Spears, Jr. released the following statement: 

“Three more examples of front lines workers who understand that no matter their job, a union contract helps them get it done. Even though we were forced to turn out members for three different elections in the same part of the state we won overwhelming because they choice is clear – AFSCME Yes. We look forward to working with these members to achieve their goals at the bargaining table.”
