Anti-worker legislation meant to make it nearly impossible for public service workers like us to organize strong unions, by stacking the deck against workers in union elections, is advancing in the State Senate. This Wednesday, Senate Bill 1296 will be debated in the Senate Committee on Governmental Oversight and Accountability, and they need to hear from you.
The Senators on this committee need to hear your voice today. SB 1296 is an extreme attack on the rights of public service workers and will force all of us to vote in every union election, or else be counted as a NO vote. It will silence the voice of workers who want to vote but are unable to because of sickness or other issues, and it would take away the right of workers who prefer to abstain.
When public service workers lose our voice at work, we cannot advocate for the critical services we provide, the public we serve and the contracts we rely on.
